Our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach helps us model and reinforce behaviours that align with our core values:

We are Safe

We are Thoughtful

We are Achievers

We are Respectful

We believe that positive behaviours, like academic skills, can be taught and strengthened through intentional practice. PBS allows us to do this by creating a proactive, consistent and evidence-based framework that supports all students in developing essential social and emotional skills.

Why PBS?

PBS offers a structured approach to teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours, which in turn creates a safe, supportive, and engaging school environment. It helps reduce disruptive behaviour, boosts student engagement and fosters a sense of belonging across the school. By using PBS, we are building a positive school culture where every student feels safe, respected and empowered to succeed.

How We Implement PBS

Explicit Teaching: We teach positive behaviours across all areas of the school, from the classroom to the playground. These lessons are delivered during class time, assemblies and throughout the school day. By clearly explaining what is expected, we ensure that students know how to behave in different situations.

Modelling and Reinforcement: Our teachers and staff lead by example, modelling positive behaviours in their interactions with students and each other. Along with praise and recognition, students earn points through ClassDojo, where greater points yield greater rewards. This system encourages students to stay engaged and motivated in making good choices throughout the school day.

Consistent Expectations: Consistency is key. We maintain clear expectations for behaviour that are understood by students, staff and families. These expectations are displayed around the school and are incorporated into everyday routines, ensuring that students know what is required of them at all times.

Support and Problem Solving: When behavioural issues arise, we take a constructive approach. Rather than focusing on punishment, we work with students to help them reflect on their behaviour and understand the consequences of their actions. We provide guidance and support to help them make better choices in the future.
